Post Modernism is a movement, it challenges traditional narrative structures. It has fragmentation and uncertainty. Interpreter of Maladies explores a complex story, it consists of complex themes and identities, struggles and themes of where one belongs. The experiences of the characters in the story show the uncertainty, the struggles within oneself and the relationships between the characters. The post modernism perspective in this story is the complex human relationships between the characters. Mrs. Das struggles with a lot of dissatisfaction and unhappiness in her life. She is very unhappy with her life and very unhappy in her marriage and does not feel in sync with her own children. She struggles with the feeling of regret, shame and guilt over a past affair she had in the past with another man.
